An exploited vulnerability CISA catalogued on 1 May 2025 in Apache HTTP Server, and this page follows how many of the Arabian Gulf's sites still announce an affected version with every census.

Exposure today

Catalogued on 1 May 2025

  • 55.3% of the Arabian Gulf's sites announcing a full Apache HTTP Server version announce an affected one 68 of 123 announcing a full version Measured on 23 October 2026 by reading the first page of every live domain in the Arabian Gulf, and 10,101 websites answered.

Apache HTTP Server Improper Escaping of Output Vulnerability

Apache HTTP Server contains an improper escaping of output vulnerability in mod_rewrite that allows an attacker to map URLs to filesystem locations that are permitted to be served by the server but are not intentionally/directly reachable by any URL, resulting in code execution or source code disclosure.

Each state has its own figure on its own page, never set beside another.

The series

Every census since the index began following this vulnerability, newest first.

  1. 55.3% 23 October 2026 68 of 123 announcing a full version

Affected versions

As NVD gives them, and what each site announces is held against them.

  • Apache HTTP Server 2.4.0 ≤ v < 2.4.60

The fix is to move Apache HTTP Server to a version outside these ranges, or apply what its maker advises, and then stop announcing the version in the site's headers.

CISA set 22 May 2025 as the deadline for US federal agencies to fix it.
